The Opera Park is arranged since 1885 at the initiative of the then mayor, Károly Haller.
The park is located in a central area, surrounded by many historical buildings, palaces and plazas with rich history. These include:
- National Theatre and the Romanian Opera in Cluj
- County School Inspectorate, the former House of Teachers
- Palace of Justice
- Building of the Fourth Army Command Transylvania
- Tailor’s Bastion
- Piata Avram Iancu Square
- Cipariu Square
