It is a cultural and tourist attractions of the city Cluj Napoca. The “Lucian Blaga” National Theatre and the Romanian Opera are located in an imposing building at: Stefan cel Mare Square, no. 2-4 Cluj-Napoca.
Here instead of the most diverse cultural events, from plays, theater festivals, concerts to national and international work, are held.

The two institutions have been established in 18 September 1919, as an expression of spiritual rebirth after the Great Union of 1918. National Theatre building which houses the Lucian Blaga and Romanian Opera House, was built between 1904-1906, according to the plans of the well – known architects Fellner and Helmer. Hall has 928 seats and is built in Neo-Baroque style, with a twist of secessionism inspiration in decorating the hall.
Inauguration of the National Cluj took place on 1 and 2 December 1919, with performances “It turns into day” by Zaharia Barsan and “Ovidiu” by Vasile Alecsandri. The National Theatre Studio “Euphorion” is designed especially for young creative artists and their experiments.
Romanian National Opera, Cluj-Napoca is the first institution, of lyrical-dramatic from the state of Romania. The inaugural show took place on May 25, 1920, with the show “Aida” by G. Verdi. From the inauguration until now, the Romanian Opera House has been presenting over 200 titles of operas, operettas and ballets from the universal repertoire.

Location
The building of the National Theatre and the Romanian Opera is located in the heart of Cluj Napoca, between Stefan cel Mare Square and Avram Iancu Square. It is easy to spot the greatness of the building toward Cipariu Market. Behind the building it is the Opera Park with playground for children.
